UPDATE 2/6: Workshops will be a bit different than originally advertised — the Rhythm & Listening class will be at 6:15pm and there will not be a Rueda class at 6:15pm, 7:30pm class is as before but with special guest instructor Eric Johnson, see below for details.

RCR hosts a Cuban Dance Party every 1st Saturday of the month at Lake Merritt Dance in Oakland.

In February we’ll be celebrating love and Valentine’s Day — wear red and/or pink!

We are offering TWO workshops this month. At 6:15pm Ryan will offer a Rhythm & Listening class focusing on the clave in both 4/4 and 6/8 — son vs. rumba, 2:3 vs. 3:2, and how these rhythms are present in both Timba and Afro-Cuban folkloric music. Then at 7:30pm we offer a 1-on-1 social dancing Salsa-Casino class — intermediate/advanced taught this month by Eric Johnson and the beginning taught by Thanh Nguyen (two separate levels taught in different rooms simultaneously).

At all of our monthly parties we celebrate the birthdays of everyone born in that month. Contact us in advance if your birthday is in February and we’ll put you on the guest list for the party (workshops not included, see below).
