R.c.R. / ODC / R&M Carnaval Contingent

Directed by Ryan Mead and Sidney Weaverling, this is the Rueda Con Ritmo / ODC / Rhythm & Motion Carnaval Contingent for the 2010 Parade. The contingent's theme was "Tremenda Onda En La Calle" and we played with the different meanings of the word Onda: groove, energy, and wave. We danced to the thick grooves of Cuban Timba -- our first song was "Nube Pasajera" by La Charanga Habanera. We used shouts, claps, and choruses to ramp up the energy of the dancers and the crowd, and our choreography and costumes mimicked waves and water, inspired by the Yoruba-Cuban deity Yemayá.
